The Martial Art of Taekwondo
(This is the martial art of choice by the nanny to Prince William’s new son.)
Taekwondo utilizes the whole body to protect oneself. It is known for its strong blocking and kicking techniques using hands and feet effectively in defense. Our school is more than just kicking and punching though we believe in the tenets of taekwondo and feel a moral responsibility to develop students who are more than just good fighters. Parents have seen their children’s grades go up, self control improve, as well as physical coordination, and self confidence. Adults are excited about the greater physical fitness, flexibility and general improvement in confidence. If your looking for something more than just kicking and punching come check us out.
Women’s Only Taekwondo Class
This is for all women ages 12 and older. The class is taught by Mrs. Van Zile and is for women and young ladies who want to train with women only for personal or religious reasons. It is a unique class focusing on Taekwondo but geared particularly to women’s needs. Special uniforms can be ordered if one needs a uniform that is longer or tailored for women.
Sundays at 4:00 we have a weapons class for members. These are taught by Mr. John Van Zile and cover a variety of subjects that deal with weapons. For example: how to disarm someone with a knife or gun, how to use a variety of weapons, ranging from swords and spears to axes and staves. Mr. Van Zile is very knowledgeable in these areas and it is an excellent addition to your TaeKwondo training. Take advantage of this opportunity. Must be a member of Great Lakes Global Taekwondo and 12 years old and older.
Work out class
Friday evening is work out class. This is open to the public if you want a great work out that varies from week to week. Mr. Van Zile runs this class which involves a total body work out. Students may adapt the work out to their fitness level.
